    1868 Dime, PR65 Deep Cameo
    The Rarer Blundered Date Variety

    1868 10C PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. F-105, Blundered Date, High R.4. Breen-3345. Discovered by Walter Breen in 1965, the base of the 1 in the date was first mispunched too high and is visible just right of the shield point. Also, the first S in STATES is partial. The other ("normal") variety is Fortin-104. Fortin suggests a premium of 100 to 140 percent for the 105 variety. Stunning field-motif contrast is evident over both sides, and all design elements are razor-sharp. Population for the 1868 proof issue: 3 in 65 Deep Cameo, 1 finer (9/15).(Registry values: P1)
