Description

1869 Dime, PR67 ★ , Spectacularly Toned
None Numerically Finer at Either Service

1869 10C PR67 ★ NGC. Only 600 proofs were struck of this scarce Seated dime. This piece makes a bold statement regarding condition that is backed up by examination of the coin itself. This is the only PR67 certified by NGC. There are no pieces numerically finer at either NGC or PCGS. Only five PR67 coins have been certified at NGC, and a single example has been graded at PCGS (1/11). The fields on each side show remarkable depth of reflectivity. The obverse is toned in shades of rose and lilac, while the reverse shows a brilliant center surrounded by rings of the same blue and rose toning at the margin. In the right obverse field there are several prominent die scratches from polishing, as evidenced by the lines not visible over the bottom of the second A in AMERICA, but appearing to pass under it.(Registry values: N2998)
