Description

1880 Seated Liberty Dime, PR68
Finest Certified at PCGS

1880 10C PR68 PCGS. A generous mintage of 1,355 proof Seated Liberty dimes was delivered in 1880, to accompany a low business-strike mintage of just 36,000 examples. Date collectors often opt to buy a nice proof, rather than searching for an extremely elusive high-grade business-strike specimen. Fortunately, few oldtime dealers, notably A.M. Smith, saved multiple examples this date for posterity.

The present coin is a magnificent PR68 specimen, the finest certified at PCGS. The design elements are sharply detailed and the flawless fields are deeply mirrored on both sides. Spectacular shades of iridescent pale gold and cerulean-blue toning blanket the surfaces. Eye appeal is terrific. This coin is a "must-have" example for Registry Set enthusiasts. Population: 1 in 68, 0 finer (3/14).(Registry values: N4719)
