Description

1889 10C PR65 PCGS. Ex: Eliasberg. The Eliasberg note for this proof indicates "Dash patch to top of first S." We have never noticed this before, but it appears the top of the S was effaced and then patched with a dash or something like it. Interesting. The fields are brightly reflective and the centers mostly brilliant with rose-russet and lime-green peripheral toning.
Ex: William M. Freisner Collection (Édouard Frossard, 6/7-8/1894); J. M. Clapp; Clapp Estate, 1942, to Louis Eliasberg; Eliasberg Collection (Bowers and Merena, 5/1996), lot 1234.(Registry values: N1793)
