Description

1889 10C PR67 PCGS. F-125, R.3. A gleaming Superb Gem proof, struck from Fortin's 125 die pair. Fortin-125 was not previously known to have struck proof dimes, although the attribution of this piece confirms that it was. The flag of the 1 in the date is recut north, and a tiny lump on the dentil below the left foot of the same numeral is consistent with the one seen in the enlarged plate of Fortin-125 on Fortin's website. The coin is boldly struck and deeply mirrored, exhibiting shades of rose, gold, and gunmetal-blue on the obverse with lighter mint-green and lemon-gold over the reverse. A few mint-made strike-throughs are seen on Liberty's left (facing) arm and cheek. Population: 7 in 67, 0 finer (5/15).(Registry values: N2998)
