1847 OC-P1 Dollar, Proof Details
Only About 18 Examples Survive
1847 $1 OC-P1, High R.6 -- Cleaned -- NGC Details. Proof.
Steel-gray surfaces contain hints of deeper coloration in select
areas of the periphery. All details are fully emblazoned onto the
planchet. Hairlines traveling southwest on each side led to NGC's
cleaning diagnosis. The 1847 Proof dollar is still a rare issue,
however, with only about 18 examples known, according to
Osburn-Cushing. All were made from a single die marriage that
combined a unique proof obverse with the familiar Reverse 1840 PA.
