Description

Golden-Brown PR66 1859 Silver Dollar

1859 $1 PR66 NGC. Although glimpses of navy-blue and mauve adorn the peripheries, the fields and devices display rich golden-brown toning. This superior No Motto type coin exhibits a penetrating strike, and the surfaces are nearly bereft of contact. A slender, subtle planchet streak to the E in UNITED provides an identifier for future pedigree researchers. The base of the 1 in the date is lightly repunched. A prize for the connoisseur of patinated silver proof coinage, and an opportunity not to be missed. A mere 800 proofs were struck. Census: 18 in 66, 4 finer (7/08).(Registry values: N7079)
