Description

1860 Silver Dollar, PR65 Cameo
OC-P1, Deeply Reflective

1860 $1 PR65 Cameo NGC. OC-P1, R2. Osburn-Cushing Die State: a/a, perfect dies. The proof 1860 silver dollar is scarcer than implied by its mintage of 1,330 pieces. NGC has graded just 143 pieces, and many of those are likely resubmissions. Breen (1988) stated, "527 sold, rest melted." Gems are undeniably rare, particularly with noticeable cameo contrast. The nicely struck surfaces show medium tan-gold and silver-gray patina. The borders display narrow arcs of apple-green. An impressive specimen that lacks the hairlines and lint marks seen on lower-graded examples. NGC shows only nine finer examples, including one Ultra Cameo piece (7/25).
