Description
Elusive 1862 Dollar, PR64
1862 $1 PR64 NGC. This Civil War issue is difficult to locate in either business strike or proof format. Especially elusive in this respected grade, the present example shows deeply mirrored surfaces. The thin veil of milky patina hardly diminishes the ice-white appearance of both sides. Just a few scattered hairlines are reported in the fields, mostly on the reverse side. With detail that is as sharp as the blade of a sword, this important coin should elicit strong bids from silver dollar specialists. Census: 50 in 64, 27 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 252G, PCGS# 7005, GSID# 7310)
