Description
Premium Gem Proof 1862 Seated Dollar
Deeply Mirrored Throughout
1862 $1 PR66 NGC. This Civil War Seated dollar proof was
among the meager production of 550 pieces, complementing a small
production of 11,540 circulation strikes. The present Premium Gem
displays fields that are deeply mirrored on each side, but the
toning slightly subdues the reflectivity and prevents a Cameo
designation. Deep blue prevails on the obverse, while the reverse
is close to brilliant, save for a hint of pewter-gray and deeper,
irregular patches around the margin. The strike is sharp throughout
both sides, and in keeping with the grade, no obvious sign of
contact appears. Gem business strikes of this issue are incredibly
rare. Census: 11 in 66 (2 in 66+), 0 finer (8/12).(Registry values: N7079)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 252G, PCGS# 7005, Greysheet# 7310)
