Description

1863 Seated Dollar, PR64 Cameo
Fully Struck, Low-Mintage Proof

1863 $1 PR64 Cameo NGC. OC-P2, Low R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. A low-mintage Civil War date, the 1863 silver dollars were struck in small quantity. Just 460 proofs were produced, of which perhaps 300 pieces survive. This is a highly contrasted near-Gem, with frost-white devices on smooth fields, which show a combination of die polish lines and a few wayward hairlines. There are no other marks to report, and a sharp strike renders full details on each side. Census: 15 in 64 Cameo (1 in 64+ ), 8 finer (3/19).
