    Description

    PR65 1863 Seated Dollar
    Important Civil War-Era Specimen

1863 $1 PR65 PCGS. Elegant mirrors shine through medium-thickness toning, gray-gold and blue with traces of peach in-between. The frostiness of the sharply struck devices peeks through in places, hinting at what must have been strong contrast. A small planchet irregularity to the right of Liberty's right (facing) elbow may serve as a future pedigree marker. At just 460 pieces, this Civil War-era proof issue saw a smaller mintage than in most of its surrounding years, and higher-quality representatives such as this Gem are in short supply. Population: 5 in 65, 9 finer (9/12).(Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 252H, PCGS# 7006)
