Description

1863 Seated Dollar, PR66 Cameo
Colorfully Toned, Rare This Fine

1863 $1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. OC-P1, R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. Two proof die pairs exist for the 1863 proofs, which produced the lowest reported proof mintage for Seated dollars in the series after 1858. Premium Gem examples or finer with Cameo contrast are rare. This is a colorful and sharply struck PR66 Cameo PCGS coin -- one of the top five Cameo proofs reported by that service. Flashy mirrored fields surround well-frosted central motifs for bold Cameo contrast. Peach-gold and ocean-blue toning decorate the obverse in about equal shares, while the reverse displays slightly deeper bluish-gray patina offering reddish-tan highlights. PCGS Population: 3 in 66 (1 in 66+) Cameo, 2 finer (7/25).
