1864 Silver Dollar, Toned PR63
Elusive CAC Example

1864 $1 PR63 NGC. CAC. This Select proof 1864 Seated dollar is visually almost identical to the 1863 proof in the McClure Collection. The obverse has forest-green, lavender, and gold toning with deeper russet also seen along the lower border. The reverse has lavender and sky-blue toning over the interior with sun-gold and mint-green peripheral hues. Sharpness of strike is exceptional, and the fields are deeply mirrored. A few minor hairlines are masked by the patina. Census: 22 in 63, 76 finer. CAC: 4 in 63, 15 finer (4/16).
