Description

1864 Seated Dollar, PR64 Cameo
Nicely Toned and Contrasted

1864 $1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1864 dollar saw a mintage of 470 proofs, a relatively large number of which have apparently survived. Examples designated as Cameos, especially high-grade ones, are a different story. This near-Gem reveals pleasing field-motif contrast, and the strike is complete in all areas. Delicate cobalt-blue, lavender, and golden-brown patina visits both sides, accenting the coin's overall eye appeal. Faint roller marks are noted on parts of Liberty's portrait. Population: 16 in 64 (2 in 64+) Cameo, 3 finer (12/13).
