Description
Near-Gem Cameo Proof 1864 Seated Dollar
1864 $1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. This mid-Civil War proof Seated dollar was issued to the extent of 470 pieces, accompanied by a meager allotment of 30,700 business strikes. Today the average proof survivor (and they are few) grades PR63-PR64, but this Cameo piece will be difficult to improve upon, technically or aesthetically. Deep field-device contrast is evident on silver-white surfaces that show minor field hairlines, likely limiting an even finer grade. Population: 10 in 64 Cameo, 2 finer (3/11).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 252J, PCGS# 87007, Greysheet# 7317)
