Description

1865 Seated Dollar, PR63
Delightful Multicolor Toning

1865 $1 PR63 NGC. CAC. A razor-sharp, reflective 1865 proof dollar, showing incredible rainbow toning on the reverse and deeper russet, olive, gold, and amber-red on the obverse. The coloration is original and effectively masks a few hairlines in the fields that limit the grade. The 1865 had the final really low proof mintage of the series at 500 pieces. A number of survivors are known, but the toning on this piece is singularly appealing. CAC: 2 in 63, 12 finer (4/16).
