1866 With Motto Seated Dollar, OC-P2
PR65, Just Nine Finer at NGC
1866 $1 Motto PR65 NGC. OC-P2, R.3. Electric-blue,
turquoise, and russet-brown form the stunning speckled patina of
this Gem Proof Seated dollar. Strike is exquisite. The year 1866 in
American coinage saw the introduction of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST
to silver and gold denominations from the quarter and half eagle on
up. The OC-P3 die marriage lacks the motto; only two are known. Of
the other two die marriages, this example is a representative of
OC-P2, the more common of the two. NGC has awarded higher grades
