First With Motto Issue, Colorfully Toned
1866 $1 Motto PR65 PCGS. OC-P2, R.3. Original Proof.
Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. Three proof die marriages are known
for 1866 Seated dollars, but one of those varieties is the
prohibitively rare No Motto type and collectors must settle for
either OC-P1 or OC-P2. The two Motto die pairs are readily
distinguished by different date positions. This colorfully toned
OC-P2 proof displays outstanding Gem surfaces blanketed in
peach-gold, blue, and violet toning. The colorfully toned, mirrored
fields surround equally toned and richly frosted devices to provide
exceptional eye appeal. This Gem 1866 proof will be an exceptional
addition to an advanced Seated dollar collection or proof dollar
