1869 $1 PR63 Ultra Cameo NGC. OC-P2, R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die
State a/a. Sharply detailed, frosty design elements contrast
profoundly with the brilliantly mirrored fields. Just a trace of
the usual softness shows on the top of the left wing and the fields
display few signs of contact. Demand for proof coins was at a low
ebb in 1863, due to the financial uncertainties of the Civil War,
and only 600 Proof dollars were minted. Just 9 of the 246 NGC
certifications have achieved the coveted Ultra Cameo designation.
