Description

1869 Seated Liberty Dollar, PR64
Impressive Deep Cameo Representative

1869 $1 PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS. OC-P3, R.4. Osburn-Cushing Die State a/a. Brilliant except for a barely perceptible lilac-gold sheen on both sides, this impressively contrasted near-Gem proof displays frost-white devices that contrast starkly with waterlike, deep-mirrored fields. A few wayward hairlines in the obverse fields do not diminish the vibrant eye appeal. This is one of only 600 proofs struck in 1869, although the population reports suggest an abnormal survival rate for 1869 proofs -- possibly the result of many resubmissions, or misidentified prooflike circulation strikes. The OC-P3 dies struck only proofs, confirmed by www.seateddollarvarieties.com. Population: 9 in 64 (3 in 64+) Deep Cameo, 11 finer (1/18).
