    Description

1869 Seated Dollar, Beautifully Toned PR66
    Only 600 Proofs Produced

1869 $1 PR66 NGC. OC-P3, R.4. A mere 600 proofs were struck of the 1869 Seated dollar, and four die pairings were used to produce them. This reverse die was used on two other pairings, and is most easily distinguished by die doubling on the scroll. High-grade survivors of the 1869 are scarce and always in demand for use as a With Motto type coin. This piece shows the intricate strike one expects of a proof, and each side displays mottled multicolored toning. There are no readily discernible marks that would enable future pedigree identification. Census: 11 in 66, 5 finer (10/18).
From The San Juan Collection. (Registry values: N7079) (NGC ID# 252R, PCGS# 7017)

    Weight: 26.73 grams
