Description

Cameo 1870 Seated Dollar, PR65

1870 $1 Seated Dollar PR65 Cameo PCGS. Though 1,000 proof Seated dollars were struck in 1870, few specimens have survived so well as this Cameo Gem. The thickly frosted devices are boldly detailed with resplendent contrast against the adjacent mirrors. Areas of opaque cream-gray toning give way to startling silver "windows" into the coin's reflectivity. While a curving lint mark rises from Liberty's left (facing) shoulder, the surfaces are largely free of post-striking defects. One of 10 examples tied for the finest Cameo example known to PCGS (8/10).
