Description

1871 Dollar, PR64+ Cameo
Delicate Golden Toning

1871 $1 PR64+ Cameo PCGS. The proof 1871 Seated dollar is one of several available proof issues from the late part of the series, but the certified population is largely limited to non-Cameo pieces. Contrasted coins are scarce in all grades, and Deep Cameos are nothing short of rare. The present near-Gem Cameo displays lovely champagne toning that deepens slightly toward the rims, while the fully mirrored fields reveal only a few faint hairlines and the boldly struck devices are free of marks. Cameo proof Seated dollars are some of the most beautiful 19th century issues in American numismatics, well-suited for type representation. Population: 12 in 64 (2 in 64+), 5 finer (10/14).(Registry values: N2998)
