Description

1871 Silver Dollar, PR65+ Cameo
Attractively Toned High-End Example

1871 $1 PR65+ Cameo PCGS. CAC. OC-P1, R.2. Cameo proof 1871 Seated dollars are scarce overall, but Gem-quality pieces are genuinely rare. Between PCGS and NGC, this is one of only two Plus-graded Gem Cameos certified, and is one of only three coins in this grade with a CAC endorsement (1/18). Modest field-device contrast is apparent beneath the dusky tan-gold toning on each side, around which rings of orange-gold and blue border toning can be seen. Any faint, grade-limiting lines in the fields are well-hidden by the patina. High-end proof Seated dollars are in constant demand, particularly with outstanding old-time toning such as is seen here. Population: 4 in 65 (2 in 65+) Cameo, 8 finer. CAC: 3 in 65, 5 finer (1/18).
