Description

1871 Seated Dollar, PR66 Cameo
Excellent Type Set Acquisition

1871 $1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Deeply frosted grayish-gold devices on each side contrast well against the reflective fields, offering primarily pinkish-gold coloration with accents of ice-blue closer to the rims. A total of 960 proofs were reportedly struck this year, but this piece is definitely among the upper echelons of survivors, both in terms of preservation and contrast. A loupe reveals no mentionable marks among the light patina, and the strike is full, or essentially so, throughout both sides. This Cameo Premium Gem is one of only three such at PCGS, and none are finer (12/14). An excellent candidate for a fine type set.(Registry values: N7079)
