Description
Scarce Select Proof 1872 Seated Dollar
1872 $1 PR63 PCGS. Bright, essentially untoned proof surfaces display cameo tendencies, and no marks that are worthy of individual mention. A bold strike manifests itself in exceptional detail on the design elements. According to David Bowers (1993), some of the 950 proofs of this year probably remained unsold, and were melted in 1873.
