Description

Desirable Proof 1873 Seated Dollar, PR61

1873 $1 PR61 PCGS. This is the final year of issue for the Seated dollar series, coined continuously since 1840, after the 1836 Gobrecht design. Both sides have moderate hairlines, explaining the lower numerical grade assigned by PCGS. Population reports suggest that nearly half of the 600 coin mintage have been certified, but the figures included a substantial number of resubmissions.
