Gorgeous Ultra Cameo Proof 1873 Seated Dollar
1873 $1 PR66 Ultra Cameo NGC. Doubled Motto. Dave Bowers described this in his Silver Dollar Encyclopedia as a doubled reverse die, although it may be just that the motto is doubled. Both Proof examples in the Jack Lee Collection have similar reverse features. This is a remarkable example with amazing contrast, the devices being highly lustrous and the fields deeply mirrored. It has a sensational black and white appearance. NGC has certified two finer examples of this date, one PR67 Ultra Cameo and the other PR68 Ultra Cameo. Population: 1 in 66, 2 finer (10/05).Ex: Rod Sweet Collection (Bowers and Merena, 7/2005), lot 1034.
