1854 Arrows Seated Half Dime, PR65
V-2, Rare Proof Type, Tied for Finest at PCGS

1854 H10C Arrows PR65 PCGS. V-2. A proof 1854 Arrows half dime in Gem condition is usually reserved for only the finest sets, and indeed most examples of this quality can be traced to the one of the historic collections. This example may prove to be such a coin, housed in a green label holder and with a rich, original patina that could only be acquired from many years of careful preservation.

Reflective fields retain their deep mirrors, but they are only revealed when the coin is viewed at the proper angle. Only then are the dramatic cerulean-blue, amber-gold, and mingled red and sea-green shades fully appreciated. There are no bothersome hairlines, marks, or other signs of handling. A limited number of proofs were struck in 1854, with a survivorship of fewer than 20 pieces known today. Population: 6 in 65, 0 finer (5/15).(Registry values: P3)
