Description

1859 Half Dime, PR65 Deep Cameo
Paquet Obverse Design
Hollow Stars Subtype

1859 H10C PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. Bold contrast exists between the well-frosted motifs and mirrored fields of this jewel-like Gem half dime. Aside from two or three Mint-made lintmarks, the surfaces are free of virtually all distractions and the flashy mirrors surround sharply struck devices. This 1859 half dime employs the Anthony Paquet obverse, with Liberty's pole hand altered (the index finger tucked) and hollow centers on the stars among other changes. The same obverse was later paired with the reverse of 1860 to create the rare transitional proof with the "stateless" reverse. This 1859 normal reverse proof is rare in Gem Deep Cameo with only two examples certified by PCGS. Population: 2 in 65 Deep Cameo, 0 finer (3/24).(Registry values: P4)
