Description

Immaculate 1862 Half Dime, Proof 66 PCGS

1862 H10C PR66 PCGS. Even though 550 proofs were produced in this second year of the War of Northern Aggression, only 430 pieces were actually distributed. Gems are not all that difficult to locate but premium pieces such as this are very elusive. The fields are very deeply mirrored and the devices show enough mint frost to suggest a cameo designation. Light peach toning is seen over each side with slightly deeper color around the margins. An immaculate proof striking. Population: 17 in 66, 1 finer (12/04).(#4445) (Registry values: P1)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 235X, PCGS# 4445, Greysheet# 3918)

Weight: 1.24 grams

Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
