Description

1862 Half Dime, PR68+★ Cameo
Tied for Finest Known, CAC Approved
Ex: Green-Newman

1862 H10C PR68+★ Cameo NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. With its show-stopping appearance, this beaming jewel 1862 half dime proof offers concentric rainbow iridescence on each side, ranging outward from silver and gold in the centers through ocean-blue, mint, amber, and deep magenta at the extreme rims. Perceptible mint frost on all devices, contrasting against mirrored fields, increases the appeal through cameo contrast. A sharply struck coin -- fully so except for Liberty's head -- and one with incredible eye appeal. From a recorded mintage of 550 proofs for this issue, only 430 were sold, the rest melted. NGC Census: 2 in 68 Cameo (1 in 68+★ ), 0 finer (3/26). CAC: 1 in 68, 0 finer (3/26).
