Description

1865 Half Dime, PR65 Cameo
Another Low-Mintage Issue With Only 500 Proofs Issued

1865 H10C Half Dime PR65 Cameo PCGS. Along with both three cent issues, the half dime also had a low, low mintage of only 500 pieces. This splendid Gem has just a hint of pale rose toning on each side, but it primarily presents as a brilliant coin. The all-important cameo contrast is immediately noticeable between the deeply mirrored fields and frosted devices. Close examination shows a few tiny planchet flakes out of the obverse fields--the only flaws we see. Population: 4 in 65 Cameo, 6 finer (8/10).
