Attractive 1870 Half Dime, PR66 Cameo

1870 H10C PR66 Cameo NGC. CAC. NGC and PCGS have graded several hundred 1870 proof half dimes from a mintage of 1,000 coins, a figure that undoubtedly includes many duplications. Only about 30 specimens have been assigned the Cameo designation, the current Premium Gem among them. A melange of cobalt-blue, orange-gold, and lavender patination adorns both sides, displaying deeper hues on the obverse. Exquisitely struck and impeccably preserved. Census: 5 in 66 Cameo, 3 finer (4/09).(Registry values: P1)
