Description
Enticing Choice Proof 1854 Half
1854 50C PR64 PCGS. With a mintage of approximately 20 specimens intended for sets, the proof 1854 Arrows half ranks as a numismatic delicacy. (NGC and PCGS record 13 pieces each. This makes a population of 20 proofs reasonable, provided one assumes that a few of those coins are resubmissions.) The near-Gem offered here has strong detail overall, with just a touch of softness at the upper stars on the obverse. Both sides exhibit rich, opaque patina with blue-green in the centers and lighter gold-green color at the margins. Though a handful of small hairlines in the fields deny a finer grade, these minor flaws scarcely diminish the visual appeal of this specimen, and its importance is similarly intact. Population: 6 in 64, 1 finer (6/07).Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 27TW, PCGS# 6407, GSID# 6425)
