Description
Charming 1858 Half Dollar, Choice Proof
1858 50C PR64 NGC. The 1858 is the first collectible proof issue in the Liberty Seated half dollar series following the extremely low production of previous years. This is also the first date that the Guide Book attempts to give an estimate for the number of proofs minted, which it places at 300+ pieces. Delightful cobalt-blue surrounds the light gray toning that covers the top half of the obverse. An arc of tan and lavender toning graces the bottom of the obverse and surrounds the rim of the reverse. A carefully preserved and sharply struck representative. Census: 10 in 64, 10 finer (7/08).From The Sundance Collection.
