Richly Toned 1864 Fifty Cent, PR64

1864 50C PR64 PCGS. The 1864 half dollar had a relatively low mintage of 470 proofs. The luminous surfaces of this near-Gem specimen are richly toned in gray, mauve, cobalt-blue, lavender, and yellow-gold hues. Both sides display mild field-motif contrast at various angles, and each is exquisitely struck. Close examination reveals no significant marks. Population: 58 in 64, 17 finer (8/09).
