    1873 No Arrows Half, PR66
    WB-102, Closed 3

1873 50C No Arrows PR66 PCGS Secure. CAC. WB-102. The Closed 3 date logotype represents the 600 proofs struck as listed in the Guide Book, although a single No Arrows proof reportedly exists with an Open 3 as confirmed in the Wiley-Bugert reference. (All 1873 With Arrows proofs have the Open 3). This beautiful, near-Gem example is richly toned with steel-blue at the borders, magenta and violet accents, and hues of amber-gold at the centers. Deeply mirrored fields surround the frosted central motifs, but contrast is minimized by the intense toning. A splendid, lustrous Premium Gem proof, with few finer at either service. Population: 12 in 66 (1 in 66+), 5 finer (2/16).

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato is the culmination of more than 10 years of research into the Draped Bust Small Eagle half dollar series, one of the most coveted type coins in American numismatics and one about which remarkably little has been written.

This work will be the premier reference for 1796-1797 half dollars for years to come. Institutions having an extensive numismatic library or coin cabinet will find it a valuable complement to their holdings, and catalogers charged with writing up specimens for auction can now have an indispensable source of background and pedigree information. Likewise, coin dealers seeking to purchase one or more '96 or '97 half dollars for a client or for inventory, and collectors who own, have owned, or desire to own one will want this important reference work for their libraries.
