Description

1876 Seated Liberty Half, PR65 Cameo
Brilliant and Well-Struck

1876 50C PR65 Cameo NGC. Type One Reverse (Open Bud). A brilliant, white-on-black example with mirrorlike fields and heavily frosted motifs. The proof mintage was large in 1876 (1,150 pieces) to accommodate demand for the Centennial date. Relatively few proofs survive with the bold cameo contrast of this coin, which is sharply struck with only scattered delicate lines visible with a lens. Census: 12 in 65 Cameo, 8 finer (4/16).
