Description

Lavishly Toned PR66 ★ Cameo 1876 Half

1876 50C PR66 ★ Cameo NGC. FS-401 with a partial impression of an S on Liberty's throat, presumably from a dropped letter punch. Type One Reverse. Iridescent navy-blue, plum-red, and caramel-gold endows this proof type coin. The strike is exacting save for slight blending on the eagle's left (facing) ankle. A thin mark near star 12, but otherwise flawless. Census: 2 in 66 ★ Cameo, none finer with a Star designation (7/08).
