Description

Pleasing 1878 Half Dollar, PR65 Cameo

1878 50C PR65 Cameo NGC. Type Two Reverse. Deeply reflective with a touch of haze over the obverse fields. This scarcely dims the contrast between the lightly frosted devices and the mirrors. A well executed strike brings up excellent definition in all of the design elements. This well-preserved and aesthetically appealing Gem, one of just 800 specimens, is a testament to the heights the 19th century minting process could achieve. Census: 10 in 65 Cameo, 10 finer (7/08).
