1881 Half Dollar, PR67 Cameo
Type One Reverse
1881 50C PR67 Cameo NGC. Type One Reverse. Dramatic contrast
is provided by the ice-white devices and mirrored fields. This
brilliant Superb Gem proof has only one remotely mentionable
identifier: a thin horizontal planchet flaw in the reverse field
that passes through the top of the eagle's right (facing) wing. The
strike is sharp, with incompleteness only present on the eagle's
left (facing) ankle and on the highpoints of Liberty's chest. Only
975 proofs and 10,000 business strikes were issued in 1881. The NGC
Cameo Census is unchanged since we last offered this example in
