Condition Rarity PR67 1881 Half Dollar

1881 50C PR67 NGC. Type Two Reverse. The year 1881 saw a mintage of 975 proof half dollars. Judging from NGC/PCGS population data a relatively large number of these have survived to the present day. Gems and Premium Gems are scarce, and finer coins such as this Superb Gem are quite rare. Bluish-purple patina covers the reverse, while cobalt-blue and lavender are confined to the margins of the obverse. Exquisitely struck with impeccably preserved surfaces. Census: 4 in 67, 1 finer (9/09).
