Stray 88 in Dentils

1882 50C PR66 PCGS. WB-102. The tops of two stray 8s are visible in the dentils beneath the left side of the 88 in the date. It is believed that WB-102 is a proof-only variety, although further examination of Mint State coins is necessary. This amazing proof has fully mirrored fields and lustrous devices beneath delicate mauve, cobalt, emerald, and gold toning. Population: 19 in 66, 2 finer (10/09).
