Description

1891 Half Dollar, PR65 Cameo
Attractively Toned and Contrasted

1891 50C PR65 Cameo PCGS. The circulation strike mintage increased to 200,000 pieces during the final year of the Seated Liberty half dollar series, but the 600-piece proof mintage was virtually the same or less than the previous years' proof issues. This Gem Cameo example is one of only a small number to survive this fine. Deep-blue, violet, and umber shades encircle frosted silver centers imbued with golden hues. Surface quality easily qualifies for the PR65 Cameo designation, while eye appeal exceeds the numeric grade. PCGS Population: 10 in 65 Cameo, 6 finer (3/26).
