Description

1854 Seated Quarter, PR64
Rich Multicolor Toning

1854 25C Arrows PR64 PCGS Secure. CAC. Debuting in 1854, the With Arrows Seated Liberty Quarter was only produced for two years, making it a popular type among collectors. While the business strike variant is readily available, proof 1854 Seated quarters are great rarities and are seldom offered at auction in any grade. Struck in an era when the Mint did not keep accurate records of proof coinage, it is impossible to know the exactly number struck, but Breen suggests in his Encyclopedia that possibly 10 examples survive in all grades.

This near-Gem representative exhibits rich blue, violet-gold, and aquamarine hues beneath light lavender-gray patina. Moderately mirrored fields deliver exceptional visual appeal when turned in-hand, and the motifs are sharply impressed. An important offering for the advanced Seated Liberty specialist. Population: 11 in 64, 1 finer (3/14).(Registry values: P4)
