Description

    1856 Seated Quarter, PR64
    Rare Proof Issue

1856 25C PR64 NGC. If the razor-sharp strike, broad, squared-off rims, and reflective fields left any doubt as to the proof origin of this 1856 quarter, a die bulge under the first A in AMERICA is indisputable confirmation. The obverse shows alternating shades of blue, rose-violet, and orange-gold, while the reverse displays mostly golden patina with colorful accents near the edges. Mintage estimates for the 1856 proof quarter generally range from 25 to 30 specimens, but the 58 grading events at NGC and PCGS combined indicate traditional approximations are probably low. Either way, all proofs are rare, and this Choice example will hold a special place in any collection. Census: 6 in 64, 7 finer (1/16).(Registry values: P2) (NGC ID# 23WH, PCGS# 5552)

    Weight: 6.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper
