Description

1860 25C PR63 PCGS. Larry Briggs (1991) writes that 458 of the 1,000 proofs made in 1860 were melted. Golden-tan and light blue patina on the obverse yields to medium intensity cobalt-blue and lavender on the reverse. Sharply struck, save for the usual softness in some of the star centers. Some unobtrusive handling marks on the obverse preclude a higher grade.
