Description

    1861 Seated Liberty Quarter, PR66
None Finer at PCGS, Gorgeous Patina

1861 25C PR66 PCGS. Briggs 7-E. Type Two Reverse. More than 60% of the 1,000 proof quarters struck in 1861 were melted as unsold at the close of the year. A recently introduced 13 cent proofing fee reduced demand considerably from the levels reached in 1858 and 1859. This is a truly impressive Premium Gem example with inarguably original surfaces. Each side is richly toned in blue, rose-violet, and peach-gold patina and devoid of major contact marks. The razor-sharp strike, squared-off rims, and flashy fields confirm the proof origin of this lovely Seated Liberty quarter. Population: 6 in 66, 0 finer (2/17).(Registry values: P4) (NGC ID# 23WN, PCGS# 5557)

    Weight: 6.22 grams

    Metal: 90% Silver, 10% Copper

    Learn about consigning with us

What I most appreciated was how thorough you were when we initially met, how you were conservative in your estimates, not trying to get me to consign by giving false expectations, and then for delivering above and beyond on your commitment to me of a wonderful marketing campaign and a first rate catalog and photos, all of which resulted in a final total price realized that was nicely higher than what you had told me to expect.
